WJCT Public Media and the Jacksonville Music Experience present local indie-rock band Teal Peel performing live on the WJCT Soundstage in celebration of the release of the band’s new album Country River on Thursday, December 7. TICKETS and exclusive vinyl bundle at the bottom of the page.

The project of multi-instrumentalist and producer Taylor Neal, Teal Peel melds a complex-yet-enjoyable soundscape of lo-fi indie-folk, alternative rock and improvisational ambience with Neal’s singer-songwriter skillset and laidback delivery. Beginning in 2021 with the chugging, Pixies-esque “Smello Coffee,” Teal Peel released a diverse succession of singles, which culminated in the four-song EP Sandy, the title track of which uses a familial anecdote as a metaphor for peace of mind over reverb-drenched guitar and moody pedal steel. (Read and listen to an interview with Neal about “Sandy” here.) The group’s self-produced debut full-length, Country River, is out on December 1 and available for pre-order on vinyl here. (You can also purchase an exclusive show-only variant of the vinyl record with admission to the show below. )

Teal Peel plays live on the WJCT Soundstage on Thursday, December 7. The concert features a performance of the band’s debut album with a never-before-seen accompanying visual display and an expanded live band, creating a fully immersive live audio-visual experience. ‘Country River’ vinyl records will be available in person for the first time at this event in a variety of unique designs inspired by the album’s narrative.

Jacksonville band Coyboi opens the show (read about Coyboi’s latest single here). Doors at 7 p.m. Show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets below.

About Country River: Feelings of exploration, uncertainty and self-discovery are the basis on which Taylor Neal began writing new material four years ago. Today, Neal along with longtime friends and collaborators, have emerged from their cocoon as Teal Peel. Together, the band’s dynamic and improvisational style makes for a unique performance each time they take the stage. Motifs of insect life, days at the beach and aquatic adventures are the inspiration behind their debut album Country River.

Exclusive release show variant of Country River on vinyl available only to those who purchase vinyl with their general admission ticket
