Florida indie-pop band, The Hails, is set to open for NYC rock outfit, Quarters of Change, at Jack Rabbits on Saturday, September 28 as part of QOC’s Portraits Tour II.
The Hails started out in Gainesville, Florida, playing house shows and local venues throughout the state. Since 2022, they’ve released a series of shimmering singles leading up to their third album What’s Your Motive (2023). The band’s efforts landed them on lineups for festivals like III Points, WonderStruck and Okeechobee Fest and touring runs with WILLIS, The Happy Fits, The Beaches and the moss.
Quarters of Change brings together an array of musical influences, ranging from Deftones to The Police, on their hypnotically energetic album, Portraits (2024). The band started making music together in NYC in 2017 out of their high school’s basement, and have since toured with bands like Bad Suns, accelerating to sell out their own headlining tours. Portraits was recorded at a studio up in Woodstock, NY, allowing the band to isolate from the usual buzz of the city and fully explore their sonic potential.
“Once again, we tried to preserve the beauty of what a performance by a band should be,” QOC vocalist and guitarist, Ben Roter said about the album. “When you hear it, I hope you can tell we’re real humans playing instruments, and it’s honest.”
Quarters of Change play Jack Rabbits in San Marco with The Hails on Saturday, September 28. Tickets can be purchased here.
