Locals can enjoy a triple dose of Billy Strings this spring. The much-loved Grammy winner is confirmed to perform at the Amp on Friday, April 19; Saturday, April 20, and Sunday April 21. Pre-sale for tickets starts tomorrow (Wednesday, January 10) at 10 a.m. at the official Billy Strings site. Tickets at the Amp box office go on sale this Friday, January 12.
Strings first rose to prominence with the viral clip of the-then-baby-faced picker tearing through his original dope-fiend-in-the-holler song, “Dust in a Baggie.” On the strengths of his songwriting and certain guitar virtuosity, as well as his ability and eagerness to jam with anyone who would invite him to sit in, Strings rocketed to fame, winning the respect of heroes-turned-peers including Willie Nelson, David Grisman, and Béla Fleck.
Now at age 31, Strings has been featured on more than three dozen solo and collaborative full-lengths, EPs, and singles and is arguably one of the only living multiple-Grammy winners who might jam on a Bill Monroe or Black Sabbath melody, at times in the same lick.
Billy Strings performs at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, April 19; Saturday, April 20, and Sunday April 21 at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. this Friday, January 12 and are available here. Single-day and three-day ticket options available.
