The Lumineers, Leon Bridges, Beabadoobee and lots of locals

Each week, the JME team looks long and hard at the concert calendar to identify the best shows in Jacksonville. Our weekly Go recommendations are updated every Monday morning and are always available on jaxmusic.org.
Here’s the rundown of what JME contributors want to see and hear in and around Jacksonville this week.
Indie-Folk
The Lumineers – Tuesday, May 17
Daily’s Place | Downtown Jacksonville
From the coffee shops of Denver to headline spots on the festival circuit, indie-folk darlings The Lumineers’ rise has been nothing short of meteoric. The band celebrates their latest record, Brightside, with two tour-kickoff shows at Daily’s Place (NOTE: Wednesday’s show has sold out). Check out our interview with singer and guitarist Wesley Shulz.
R&B/Soul
Leon Bridges – Thursday, May 19
St. Augustine Amphitheatre | St. Augustine
Grammy Award-winning R&B singer-songwriter Leon Bridges has given new life to neo soul with his crossover smashes, including “River” and Coming “Home,” all while exploring and expanding his sound as he prepares to release his much-anticipated third studio album, Gold Diggers Sound. Bridges plays The Amp on Thursday.
Bedroom Pop
Beabadoobee – Friday, May 20
Underbelly | Downtown Jacksonville
With her 2020 debut, Fake It Flowers, Philippines-born, UK-bred youngster Beabadoobee is one of bedroom pop’s rising stars. Her latest, Beatopia, is due in July. The singer and guitarist brings her lo-fi confessionals to Underbelly on Friday.

Backed by a rotating cast of thrashers he calls the Goons, Tampa’s Gino (no last name) returns to Jacksonville –– where he’s doggedly built an audience over the last decade or so –– bringing his primal garage-rock wallop to Rain Dogs. Local garage trio Mercy Mercy opens the show.
