Iconic indie rock band Shannon and the Clams performs at the WJCT Soundstage as part of the the Jacksonville Music Experience’s Soundstage Series with support from Austin indie band Being Dead and local shoegaze act Siichaq on Saturday, April 12. Led by singer-songwriter and bassist Shannon Shaw, the Oakland-bred group is beloved for fusing feel-good doo wop, R&B, garage rock and other retro sounds. The group’s seventh studio album, 2024’s The Moon is in the Wrong Place (produced by longtime collaborator, the Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach) spent weeks at the top of the college radio charts, and earned praise from Paste Magazine, Spin and more. The band’s new album made JME’s list of best records of the year. Read more here. Shannon and the Clams is recommended if you like indie rock with great harmonies from bands like La Luz, Black Lips and Allah-Las.
Shannon and the Clams are on tour with Being Dead, the Austin-based multi-instrumentalist duo, whose new album, EELS, which also made our list of best records of the year, is a borderline-Psilocybin dose of melodious, enjoyably madcap freak folk, featuring hauntingly retro harmonies, primal beats and playful instrumentation.
Opening the show is Jax-based grunge/shoegaze group Siichaq. The band’s single, “Shame,” from their 2024 debut, My Dog Ate My Patriotism, made JME’s list of best local songs of the year. Read more about Siichaq here.

About the Soundstage Series: At the Jacksonville Music Experience (JME), we believe in the power of music to connect and inspire. And, beginning in February, JME and WJCT Public Media will pair internationally-acclaimed artists with local and regional acts for the JME Soundstage Series, a season of concerts aimed at building community through music discovery. The series features headliners Shannon and the Clams, Rahill, Levitation Room and Ghost Funk Orchestra. In addition to internationally-acclaimed headliners, each JME Soundstage Series concert will introduce audiences to emerging local and regional acts. Held at the WJCT Soundstage in Downtown Jacksonville, each community-focussed event will feature a local vendor market, food trucks and more.
Tickets and Pricing: As part of our mission to build community through music discovery and introduce audiences to artists from around the world – including those making music in the Jacksonville area – ticket prices for each show will be significantly less than market value, and ticket buyers will also have the opportunity to purchase tickets for the entire series at a discounted rate. Tickets for individual shows are $25. Tickets for the entire series (four shows) are priced at $80.
