Dig in deeper on the local artists performing at Blue Jay Listening Room:
Corey Kilgannon
Latest: Radiant Phaedrus
Since his debut in 2014, Beaches-based singer-songwriter Corey Kilgannon has amassed tens-of-millions of plays on popular music streaming platforms (a modern marker of success) and built a substantial following for his ever-growing catalog of indie-folk-style songcraft. In collaboration with LA-based, Central Florida-bred multi-instrumentalist and producer Jacob Cummings, Kilgannon recently debuted Radiant Phaedrus, a new collection of songs that is his most-personal, and inarguably most experimental, offering to date.
Luci Lind
Latest: “Mistakes With the Bottle”
Though he’s been releasing DIY singles since 2018, Jax singer-songwriter-producer Luci Lind has lately been honing his craft, dropping torrent of new music and delighting crowds with raucous, energetic sets at Murray Hill’s The Walrus; notably, he was also an early-afternoon-crowd fave at this year’s Winterland music festival. Lind’s latest, “Mistakes with the Bottle,” showcases the artist’s knack for mature melodic earworms and chill-AF production.
Daddy
Latest: “Come2Love”
After the dissolution of his wildly popular electronic trio TOMBOi, Jax multi-instrumentalist Alexander Eli returned to the local music fray as Daddy in 2022, dropping the meditative-yet-dance floor-ready single “Come2Love.” After performing at 2022’s SXSW in Austin, South Florida’s Bumblefest and St. Augustine’s Sing Out Loud, Daddy landed on JME’s list of Jax Artists to Watch in 2023. As co-owner of Murray Hill restaurant and live music club The Walrus, Eli’s created an inclusive and essential venue for local artists, while continuing to craft subsequent Daddy material.
Ebonique
Latest: “Cascade”
Songstress Ebonique is no stranger to Duval’s R&B scene. But her first-class voice garnered extra attention in recent years. In the spring of 2021, the singer-songwriter released the four-song EP Edge Control, a collection of sultry R&B that drips with the kind of freedom of expression enjoyed by an artist seemingly coming into her own. Duval musicians took notice, as Ebonique has since been a featured artist on several local releases. In late 2022, she released the single “Cascade” to much local fanfare.
